Brief topic summary:

Topic A: Cuban Missile Crisis (October 15, 1962)

On October 15, the CIA and MI6 inform president John F. Kennedy of the presence of Soviet ICBM's (Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles) in Mara, Cuba, only 90 miles away from the US city of Miami. In response to the news, Soviet authorities locate and capture an American double agent in the GRU, Oleg Penkovsky, and his death sentence is due October 27th. The US retaliates by closing the highly influential Panama strait to create embargos on Cuba, thereby, not allowing the USSR subsidies from entering the country. This deteriorated the economy, managing to create public unrest due to inflation and unemployment in the territory. In this timeline, the United States, along with its NATO allies, never settle American Jupiter nuclear missiles in Italy or Turkey, due to rising tensions in the region. NATO and the US where able to relocate the ICBM missiles to Poland, were they where able to reach Kiev, Minsk and Saint Petersburg, but not Moscow. In doing so, both sides had leverage and where ready for negotiations between the Warsaw Pact and NATO.

Topic B: Arab-Israeli War (June 5, 1967)

Gamal Abdel Nasser, second president of Egypt, closed the Strait of Tirans to Israel. Taking into account that 90% of Israeli oil passes through these sea passages, the closure of said strait was enough to act as a casus belli (Latin for an event or political occurrence that brings about a declaration of war). This lead Israeli Armed Air forces to enact a series of bombings to crop fields in the Peninsula of Sinai, greatly affecting Egypt. The president of this nation refused to evacuate the Peninsula, but decided to reinforce it using Jordanian and Syrian support. The United States of America immediately sided with its long lasting ally Israel from the beginning of the war, thus adding fuel to the conflicts fire.

Topic C: Falkland Conflict (April 3, 1982)

Leopoldo Galtieri, president of Argentina, launches a full naval assault on the Falklands, Sandwich and the South Georgian Islands, in an attempt to gain full occupation and authority of the territory. The date is April 3rd, 1982, and the United Kingdom, along with its Intelligence Agency MI6, is planning a naval of offensive brigades to depart from the nation into the affected territory on April 5th. The United Nations Security Council must find diplomatic solutions to the conflict before the brigades leaves the English Canal and a full out war erupts.
